Excel is a piece of software or application that is able to handle data involving numbers. When one wants his/her data to be computed involving several mathematical equations, he/she can do it easily using an Excel spreadsheet. By simply clicking on the function buttons that do a specific purpose, one can have the answer to a particular mathematical equation in an instant. But with all the computations involved using an Excel spreadsheet, many people have noticed that decimal places may be automatically rounded off to the nearest ten. This may be helpful for some people but may be annoying to those who want exact figures, including decimal points and places.

The only main reason that numbers are rounded up in an Excel spreadsheet is that the round function is activated, and the program just wants to shorten the display of figures and numbers. Without the rounding up feature, figures will seem to “not fit” in a particular cell on a spreadsheet. When this particular function is enabled, the application will automatically round up figures with supposed decimal places. What the users will usually see are exact figures and numbers without decimal points and places. When the figures involve money, for example, the Excel spreadsheet will display only the money value without the cents. But the application does not just delete the remaining decimal places or the cents in money values, for example. It automatically computes and rounds up the numbers to the nearest ten resulting in the display of full numbers without decimal points.

Because of Excel’s rounding up function, the calculations and totals may have a different result. This is why many people dislike this function and try to disable it every time a spreadsheet is used. By setting Excel on specific formats, like the number of decimal places, one will have exact values and the right calculations.

Java originated from the C and C++ languages. The C programming language is the portable language which can be run on computer s. The C++ language is similar to C which has the features of being able to generate classes for the object programs. This creation of classes was the main concept behind object- oriented programming. The Java users could realize the significance of Java for having evolved from C++ programming. It is easy for the C++ programmers to use Java properly as the advanced features not done in C++ are satisfied in Java. The unreached tasks in C++ are completed using Java.

The C and C++ programs are portable, and they have to be compiled again in every system to make them run. The executable program that is generated for the Linux operating system might not be able to run on a Windows computer. The portable programs have to be recompiled when they are taken to different target machines. Running these programs is a complex process, and they might cause some errors too. But the Java program is a binary portable. It can be run on various platforms without a recompilation process. The output from the compilation process can be run directly on the target computer without any interruption.

Java was previously called “Oak,” and is an object-oriented programming language that is formulated by Sun Microsystems. Java was found to make it easy for the program to get executed in the network in spite of the code not being trusted. So many features were eliminated from C and C++ to create Java. Programs in Java will not be able to access arbitrary memory space, and it has no pointer concept. The compiled byte code of the Java program will be decoded by the Java interpreter.

The name of “Java” was created when the software team after several sessions desired to give it a name for the new technology which had more speed, interactivity, animation, and many more features. The name “Java” was suggested as it represents the hot, aromatic tea that is liked by the software professionals to have more often. As this new technology was a challenging one, it was named “Java.”

Shockwave Flash is a software that allows for video playback on Web browsers. Since it handles video, it means that quite a big file is processed for a particular file to be viewed properly. A video file may be as short as a few seconds but could be long enough to drain the battery of a computer , for example. Because of the large file that may be involved in viewing a video file through Shockwave Flash, there is also a big tendency for it to crash or stop working.

But aside from the video file being too large to be handled by Shockwave Flash, there are also other possible instances that may cause this particular program to crash and stop working. In the case of Web browsers, there may be problems with the necessary plug-it files that are needed to play the video file. Plug-its may be outdated or corrupt which make it difficult for the browser to view the file properly. For outdated plug-its, browsers may be updated regularly for this purpose.

There are also browsers that have built-in Shockwave Flash players to handle video content. But even if the built-in software contains the latest file updates, there may also be times where the program will crash. Under standard conditions, Shockwave Flash will run using files originally installed on the computer’s operating software and not through the built-in program on the browser used by the person. With this configuration, there may be times that the Shockwave Flash player or application itself will get lost in terms of which files to use for playing a certain video file. When this happens, then the application will crash.

The user’s Internet connection may also play a role in making the Shockwave Flash program crash. If the connection is too slow, video files may stop uploading and/or downloading and eventually stop playing or working.

Designers in general think that they want to be cool while working on graphic designing. Working with Apple products is also a cool experience for the designers, probably. In the perspective of both hardware and software, the products from Apple are considered as well-designed, and designers are found to be interested in this aspect very much. The designers say that Apple is a design-led company while Microsoft is a technology-led company.

If a Wi-Fi connection has to be set from the system having Windows Vista, it would be the equivalent to a tiny exercise. If the properties of the network connection are not set correctly, the “connect to the network” dialog box will not allow the user to enter the password and get connected to the Internet. The person must know initially that there are certain, hidden features which have to be toggled with in order to connect to the Internet. In the case of Macintosh, there will be simply a Wi-Fi (airport) option which can be clicked to get the various types of networks available. The relevant network can be selected, and the password can be given after selecting it. This is very simple and easy for the new person also to enter into the network. There will not be any hidden settings that have to be set before entering the password.

Macintosh is designed in such a way that the user finds it easy to operate. Windows appears to be focused on doing any complicated process as long as it reaches the end and gives the result. Designers like the process to be simple and focused on the user. Designers generally think that the picture that they have in their minds has to be brought onto the screen without much lengthy procedures and disturbances in their way. They generally prefer not to battle with the settings, and they feel it to be irrelevant. That is probably why designers choose to use Macintosh. Some of the reasons for the designers to choose Macs for their work are:

Best graphics platform.

Less down time with enhanced productivity.

Perfect for high-end graphics application.

Use of advanced graphics tools.

Output is high in quality.

PCs, or personal computer s, may run slower over time for a variety of reasons. For most PCs, the culprits are the various programs that run in the background. What usually happens is that when a user starts up his/her computer, other programs that have been installed in the past also start to load some files in the computer without prompting the user or without the user noticing it. When several of these programs run in the background by default during the computer start-up process, it will then eat up the computer processor’s memory making every application in use to run slowly. There are even times that users will get so frustrated that a chosen program will not load fully or will crash because there is not enough internal memory for the computer to process it. And this scenario is typical when there are other programs loading in the background. To check this problem, one may need to re-configure applications that run during start-up.

Another reason for a slow PC are viruses and malware. These are infected files and/or programs on the person’s computer, and they severely affect the computer’s performance. Some of these files are created and designed for specific purposes like slowing down the processing of computer programs and applications. Some malware also duplicate themselves when opened or executed, and this makes the computer use up a lot of available memory for processing. For malware, one’s computer must have an updated anti-malware program installed.

But aside from computer viruses, the computer’s own anti-virus program itself may also slow down PC processing over time. Some of these anti-malware applications constantly scan the computer for infected files which may slow down the opening and use of other applications. For this concern, users need to change the settings of the anti-malware program in terms of the scanning schedule and frequency.

Apple computer s, or Macs, have always been perceived as very pricey and expensive when compared with other computer brands and devices. For the most part, no research is needed to confirm that Mac computers have higher price tags compared to other computers with different brands of operating software. One just needs to go to a computer store or check online to find out that Macs are indeed pricier than its rivals.

The first thing that one should know about pricing is product quality. As many people would agree, Mac computers are perceived to have the highest quality software and hardware. And indeed, many of its customers are satisfied with the product/s they purchased. The company behind Macs will always claim that all software and hardware are created and developed by experts in the industry, and this is meticulously done for the benefit of all customers.

Another reason for the higher price range for Mac computers is the branding aspect. With all similar products in the market today, products like Mac computers need to differentiate themselves from the pack. And one way of doing so is in the form of advertising. Mac computers are promoted as top-of-the-line or of the highest quality, and so these claims are backed up with high-quality software and hardware. But having quality products is obviously not enough and so the company will spend money to advertise Mac computers as the best in the business. And with advertising also comes spending big bucks for every sales promotion campaign. If these products are promoted to the higher socio-economic demographic, then it should also be priced higher and appropriately.

But experts in the industry also argue that it’s not all about higher, up-front pricing when speaking of Mac computers. Many people also point out that owning a high-quality computer like a Mac will actually save users possible maintenance costs later if other low-end computers are bought instead.

The video files visualized through the internet are generally very slow. The slow running of videos might happen due to reasons like low space in the hard disk, due to the pending programs and corrupt files, data corruption, due to problem with windows updates or old drivers, due to overheating of computers, operating system corruption and problematic hardware.

It is necessary to reboot the computer before following any more steps to reboot it. It is necessary for the hard disk space to be at least 200 to 500 MB. This will make the space in the computer for swap file to enhance the size of it or increase the size of the temporary files. The hard disk space that is present has to be determined and regaining it can make the videos to run fast.

The video card which is not up to the standard, computer processor, video players, software drivers and RAM that are old cause problems in playing videos. The videos will not sync with the audio players. Very old video cards will not have capacity to play some videos like high definition videos (HD). The HD videos would require more powerful video cards.

If the RAM is very low, the temporary data cannot be stored properly and hence the videos cannot run fast. The processor in the computer which is old one may show slow performance in playing the videos. The single core processors are not used for enhancing the performance and the video display needs dual core or quad core processors. It is observed that 2 GHz processors are necessary for playing HD videos. The memory card and graphic card have to be upgraded to make the videos to run fast.

Why do PDF files not open?

The PDF files are not found to be opening in Google chrome web browser. If the PDF-viewer is disabled in the Google Chrome browser, the Adobe reader will help the PDF file to open. The Chrome browser will not allow the PDF file to be opened in the internet. There was no problem with internet explorer and Fire fox in opening the PDF files while the chrome browser had problem in initiating the PDF file.

The inability to open the PDF file is observed in the case of popup blockers or in the security control settings in the computer that has to be reset. The popup windows have to be enabled to resolve the matter. The PDF (portable document format) files are generally opened using adobe reader software that is available in Adobe website.

The temporary internet files that are created can act as obstructions for the PDF file to be downloaded properly. The PDF files that are downloaded in the internet might show sometimes blank or corrupt files. These files are displayed in such a way to get damaged in the download process. The cache in the browser might be totally filled up sometimes which may not give way for the PDF file to open. So it is better to close the browser at that time and try loading it again. If this is not done, probably the damaged data might get displayed as cached information.

The problem of PDF files not opening from the internet can also be due to the active state of the option “not open PDF files in the browser” in the Adobe reader. The un-checking of this option can make the PDF files to open by clearing all the temporary internet files and refreshing the page. Opening the PDF file will take lot of temporary memory space and hence saving it and then opening it in the standalone machine can make the file to open easily. The Acrobat reader versions also might be responsible for not be able to open the document. Upgrading the version can make the PDF file to be opened easily.

Why do software testing?

The software testing is performed to monitor the efficiency of the program and carries out the necessary results. Testing is important for maintaining the software quality and is mostly implemented by the testers and programmers. As the principles of software are very limited to be understood, software testing is visualized as an art.

The complexity that lies in the software makes it necessary for it to be tested. The program with moderate complexity cannot be completely tested. The errors in software can result in nothing or a large amount of money. The software testing can also lead to life loss. There are situations that were reported in many stories that computer systems have failed due to errors in software. There might be many reasons for the system to be failed. But the most important reason is that the software is not tested. In the development of new systems in the past there were huge destructions which showed large losses financially. These destructions could have been restricted by efficient testing.

Testing is classified other than debugging. Testing can be quality assurance, validation and verification, or estimation of reliability. Testing space is again considered as correctness testing and reliability testing. Testing of the software is a balance in between time, finance and quality. The software is tested to improve the quality of it, to verify and validate, to estimate the reliability of the software.

The quality of the software cannot be tested directly. It can be tested in terms of interior, exterior and future quality. The exterior quality is otherwise called as functionality, interior quality comes under engineering and future quality comes under adaptability. Functionality can be classified as reliability, correctness, integrity and usability of the program. All these subdivisions in functionality of the software are tested to confirm the exterior quality. The factors like testability, efficiency, structure and documentation are tested for interior quality of the software. The factors like reusability, maintenance and flexibility can be monitored for testing the adaptability of the software. Hence testing of the software is very much necessary.

Why is keyboarding important?

Our life is usually centered on computer s. Even in school, children bring their laptops to work on their projects and school activities. In the office, computer are also very helpful for filing and other transactions. Life becomes easier and faster because of computers.

However, typing in computers can also be stressful is proper keyboarding is not taken seriously. Keyboarding is typing with the use of the keyboard. In any typing class, the student is taught how to position the fingers so that these will not feel strained and tensed. In keyboarding, there is an appropriate finger for ever letter in the keyboard.

If you try to look in each keyboard, the patterns of the letters are the same (qwerty). The qwerty pattern was a standard layout ever since typewriter was invented. People get used to this layout so this was carried on for computers, laptop, notebooks and even cell phones.

Studying of proper keyboarding is important because it eases the work in typing. When you know where the letters are located in the keyboard, you can type faster. Typing is even faster than writing with pen and paper. It is also more comfortable using the keyboard than holding the pen. This makes your work more convenient and quick to finish. You will also encounter fewer errors with keyboarding because you type the correct letters at the correct positions.

Typing speed also matters in job applications. If you apply for office work, there are tests to be passed and one of those is the typing speed and skill. If you know keyboarding, then you will never fail in this test.

It is important to use the keyboard correctly because this is the extension of your hands. Whatever your mind dictates, your fingers just type those letters to produce words, sentences, paragraphs, and stories.
