Why do schools block websites?

There are several reasons for the schools to block the websites. Some of the schools tend to block the adult sites. These adult sites are illegal to be viewed and they do not impart any education to the children. But, today children are prevented from using not the above mentioned sites. Instead, the children are not allowed to see the educational sites. The children are not allowed to have fun out of some entertaining sites. It would be necessary for the school children to have fun along with education. So, it is not apt to block all the sites meant for fun and entertainment. The adult sites have to be prevented from looking at.

There are some reasons that are put forward by the schools for having blocked the websites. They are justifying the reasons for the block. The usage of the websites that are not deserved to be watched at might be blocked as it is waste of time. Blocking the websites was a method of censorship or a method of resource management.

The schools will block the websites that are not necessary for the learning process of students. It is not essential for the students to bother much about the sites that are blocked. Instead, they can feel happy about using the computer s for free in the school. It must be really disturbing the student’s work in the school to browse into unnecessary websites. There are valid reasons for avoiding the porn sites which are not important to anyone and especially to the children. The social websites like Face book is also not necessary for the students while they are in the school as it might create lot of distractions. The United States government has passed a resolution to block the social networking areas like My Space and chat rooms in the school. The schools spend lot of money to provide the students facilities to learn through the internet and in using computers. So, it is not wise on the part of the students to waste their time by browsing the sites that are not educational. In school, students have to get the information from the internet which would help them in learning the subjects more.

Cyber bullying is teasing others through internet or mobile phone. The cyber bullying includes calling the names, ill treating a person by saying something harsh to them. The bullying through internet involves threatening the people to kill them and their family and even blaming them. Cyber bullies will frighten the people and then blame others for the wrong things they are doing. They mostly do not accept their mistakes. The cyber bullies attempt to get their old sister, brother or parents to support them such that they are not questioned by anyone. It will also appear as if the victims are themselves doing the bullying.

Cyber bullying is done by the kids especially out of frustration, anger and revenge. Entertainment can be the reason for them to bully. They get bored as they have much time in their hands and do not know how to spend it effectively. Some do it just to irritate others and test to know how the other people react. Some people are found to be doing it by accident. The people who are strong financially and socially do it out of ego.

It is also important that if bullying goes out of control, then the parents of the victim has to interfere in this matter to make the parents of the bullying person to come to know about this act. If this does not happen then it is important to approach the Police. This will make the issue get solved or will stop going beyond the limits.

Sometimes it happens that the cyber bullies will not allow your parents to understand you if they come to know that your parents are just asking the victim to ignore that person. If the bully comes to know that the parents of the victim are not interested to catch him, he/she continue bullying and the victim might also have the chance of his/her parents to stop him working on the computer . This might bring a big problem in the child’s career.

Why Yahoo is called Yahoo?

The Yahoo website began with the name of Jerry and David’s guide to the World Wide Webâ€ in the year 1994 and in the month of January. Later, the novel nick name was given. The word Yahooâ€ is an acronym for Yet another Hierarchical Officious Oracleâ€ that was named as such in April 1994. This lengthy name was suggested by David Filo and Jerry Yang in the year 1994. They both were students of Electrical Engineering at Stanford University. Earlier, this site was working as a directory for other websites which were organized in a hierarchy.

David Filo and Jerry Yang were interested to choose the name of Yahooâ€ as they liked the usual meaning of this term that has appeared in Gulliver’s travelsâ€, written by Jonathan Swift. The meaning of the word was rude, unsophisticated and uncouth. The site was extensively used by many people who were outside the Stanford trailer. The site became so popular that by the end of the year 1994, there were 1 million hits received by the Yahoo site. The founders could understand the business potential of this site on March 2nd, 1995. The website name Yahooâ€ was started from 1996, April 12th. This business was incorporated and the founders visited the Silicon Valley venture capitalists for help. They could further take the help from Sequoia Capital who were ready to fund â€˜Yahoo!’ in April, 1995 by about $2 million.

The Yahoo business was offered to the public for 33.8 million dollars. By giving away 2.6 million shares for $13 each, has resulted in fund hike. The name Yahooâ€ was used as trademark by other businesses like Barbecue Sauce, knives and human propelled watercraft. To borrow the trademark, Yang and Filo included the exclamation mark to the Yahoo name. But, in several cases of reference made to this site, the exclamation mark is ignored. The company started to improve gradually and is now one of the leading global internet communications and Media Company.

Depending on the internet service provider and the location, our download speed may vary from slow, normal and fast speed. Speeds vary considerably between users.

The whole process of downloading will undergo a lot of steps before you can actually download it from a website.

So why do your download speed vary? There are a lot of reasons why.
Not enough seeders. In downloading torrent files, seeders are very important. Without enough seeders, expect a slow download or worse a dead link. I suggest to always look for torrent files with high share ratio or with a high number of seeders.

Mode of download. Based on my very own experience, in downloading large files, it is much faster to download them via torrent or via .zip files compared to downloading them via direct download. Depending on the mode you are using, your overall download speed may vary as it also depends on the internet speed of the server where you are downloading.

Network Congestion. Shared internet connection can cause a slow download speed. Also, during the day where there are a lot of people who are connecting to the internet so download speed may show some difference. I suggest try downloading during non-peak hours to avoid bandwidth congestion.

Slow Internet Connection. A slow internet connection can greatly affect your download speed. Sometimes fluctuating internet speed can also cause a fluctuation in the download speed.

Server-side issues. In cases of server-side downloading for example when playing online games or video streaming, their download speed depends on their server. No matter how fast your internet speeds is, if the other party’s server is slow then expect a difference in download speed.

Wikipedia is a good source for getting information. But, it is not always that it can be relied upon. Each of the Wikipedia articles has a disclaimer given along with it. It says that the article published may not have accurate information completely. It is important to check the information that we were getting previously. Wikipedia is mostly accurate in giving information but not always reliable enough. In colleges today Wikipedia is not considered as a dependable site and the students are not allowed to keep this site as a citation for source. So, Wikipedia is certainly not the academically reliable and acceptable website.

If you want to collect any technical information, it is better to look for the official site which has the required information written by a credible author. The documentary information and the science books are made to publish. If anyone is in search of information very urgently, he can approach this website to make a start with and later on jump into the links which might lead to other articles. Most of the articles in Wikipedia can be altered by anyone and replace it there. So, information that can mislead exists in this site that was not observed by the experts who actually wrote the article. The information can appear as biased sometimes.

Wikipedia can be used for secondary reference rather than primary. When you are reading a text book or any other published source of information, in order to know further more about it Wikipedia can be visited. Wikipedia can never be used as a compete source for research purpose. It is not that all the information is incorrect in this site. The problem with the router can be the cause for slow running of videos from hulu site.
Like the You-tube, videos running directly from hulu have to first occupy the cache memory in the system and then occupy the permanent memory space of the computer . If the capacity of the cache in the system is sufficient, then it will harbor more information called as buffer. Later this buffer gets transferred to the actual memory. Cache memory serves in speeding up the process of downloading. If the cache memory is less in your system, it cannot buffer more data at a time and hence the process of downloading becomes slow. The same problem is also observed in You-tube.
There might be many reasons for hulu site to become slow, and low cache memory space in the destination computer may be one of those.
