Why Do Gymnasts Not Go Through Puberty?

Metaphorically speaking, gymnasts do not actually go through puberty simply because of the fact that once they reach the age of puberty, they cease or simply stop being a gymnast if not advised by their coaches not to work out anymore as a gymnast. There are a lot of reasons why they are required to stop doing gymnastics and the primary reason is for physical safety. Once these gymnasts reach the age of puberty there is already the great chance of facing a difficulty when it comes to flexibility of their bodies. Hence, there must be a need and a necessity that these gymnasts must therefore stop being an athlete in this field, only if they wish to save their lives and enjoy a healthy pain-free life.

Gymnasts however go through puberty in the real sense of the word or in the literal sense. If this is so, then it goes without saying that they also go through the normal routines of growth physically and the rigors of growing up. In other words, gymnasts do not go through puberty only in the loose sense of the term simply because of the fact that only gymnasts before reaching puberty are the ones who can perform well and thus they are the only athletes given priority in terms of gymnastics training.

In fact in most of China’s training centers in view of gymnastics, puberty is the end of those who are trained to become gymnasts’ pride of China and are bound to represent their country in the Olympics and in most gymnastic competitions nationwide and worldwide. This is a common practice not only in China but even in other parts of the world which focus in training gymnasts. Hence, the fact that gymnasts are trained only before reaching puberty answers this common question why they do not go through puberty in the loose term of the word.
