Why do Phd?

PhD is the shortened form of one of the many advanced academic degrees offered by many universities, which is the Doctor of Philosophy. Emanating from the Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany, the Doctor of Philosophy is a degree where higher form of learning is imparted. This is so because the term philosophy, in this context, is not only contained in the modern definition of the term. Philosophy in its broadest sense refers primarily to its Greek meaning, love for wisdom. In 1150, the first Doctor of Philosophy was recognized in Paris. Then after, the degree propagated and adapted by many universities, from Germany, USA, Canada, UK, to the various universities in New Zealand. Across the globe, the Doctor of Philosophy degree has certain requirements that widely vary from university to university. As one form of academic achievement, the Doctor of Philosophy degree may require more years to study and learn but it is one course that greatly affects one’s career and future opportunities in any field of interest.
There are many reasons why one should do the Doctor of Philosophy degree. Among the great number of reasons, one of the major reasons why PhD should be taken is to broaden one’s existing knowledge. The love for learning is one of the major factors for taking a PhD degree. The level of curiosity increases therefore, the need to answer and find reasons for such curiosity should be met. In accordance with learning is the sense of satisfaction and achievement that the challenges of the course bring. Also, getting a PhD allows one to improve oneself and one’s life in facing future tribulations that may come anytime. It increases one’s confidence, skills and knowledge as new challenges are encountered.
These reasons are just enough for one to take PhD.
