Why Does Firefox use so much Memory?

Several people complain about the Firefox, occupying more memory. In a 512 MB HD it was found to be snatching away about 495 MB and in 2.5 GB HD it was found to be occupying nearly 1.5 GB. This seems to be happening even when two or three tabs are working, otherwise, when twenty to twenty- five tabs are open, it uses around 2GB to 3GB memory from the start of the program. The memory problem with this browser might be due to some of the extensions or themes that are created in the Add-ons during your browsing. If you can remove few of the extensions and themes like unnecessary plug-ins or various other version installations that are being used at that moment, this memory problem can be solved to some extent. Few of the extensions can be disabled temporarily to avoid heavy memory occupancy.
In some computers which are mostly used as servers, they will have applications like MS SQL server and so on, that occupies the memory while running the application. In this case, Firefox cannot build up its space with more memory. When the other applications are not grabbing the memory space available ,then Firefox is found to take away the memory space which is not necessary for the other applications. So, if we have more random access memory in our system ,then, Firefox tries to occupy more of it only if the memory is not used by other applications.
Moreover, in windows, internet explorer related software core is already in built in windows. So, most of the memory it occupies while using IE, is not its total used space as shown in the task manager. Much of the core components of IE are already distributed in other windows files and hence it appears as if IE is not spending much memory.
These and some more reasons reveal that Firefox uses more memory.
