Blood is one vital fluid in the body that that is considered to be the body’s lifeline. Made up of plasma and a variety of cells, blood accounts for eight percent of the total body weight among humans. An average man contains an approximate of 5 liters, of which its constituents have obtained various significant functions. Blood is considered to slightly alkaline with a pH level of 7.35v to 7.45. To maintain homeostatic mechanisms, regulation and monitoring on one’s blood pH and levels, of oxygen, carbon dioxide and bicarbonate are meticulously done.

Blood is one vital organ that plays important roles in the general physiology of human beings and animals. As it sustains life, blood specifically functions in various ways. These functions are indeed important, making such organ important. Blood is important because it is the medium used in supplying the body with oxygen and other needed nutrients. More so, the blood has the ability to immunize the body from the different pathogens and microorganisms existing in nature. It also aids in independently repairing the body from injuries and traumas through the process known as coagulation. In addition to that, the blood has the capacity to eliminate the waste products that the body constantly produce, in conjunction with the normal processes that the body undergoes. More so, it has the ability to regulate the body’s core temperature as well as the pH level of the blood. Blood is also deemed to be important in the transportation of hormones, particularly in giving signals when significant tissue damage has occurred.

With blood having essential function in the body, it is indeed one vital fluid that not only facilitates one’s survival but also aids in keeping the body functioning at an optimum level and always at the wellness state.
