Why is creativity important?

Creativity is a quality that involves being able to make something new.  It may be in the form of a new idea, thought, concept, design, or process, but all of these have a common purpose relating to their own values. Whatever new process is made or created, for example, must have some form of value to achieve its benefits.  This quality is important because having it defines one person, for example, as being different and somewhat ahead of everybody else.  While most people may just be content with doing what they are told to do or what they have to do, those who are considered creative tend to explore new ideas and things which may be of better value to existing norms.

For the experts, being creative is a good quality to have as it involves exploring new thoughts and processes.  Instead of just following what the society dictates one to do, creativity will result in new ideas and perhaps new opportunities.  All creative projects and processes may not be successful or become very valuable to those involved, but having different options and points of view are already important and valuable.  If it was not for creativity, all things done around people would only be done and implemented in traditional and boring ways.  With creative thinking, new ideas will come up, and these may result in even better things in life.

Because creativity is such an important quality, many adults try to bring back their childhood days when it comes to thinking of new things.  It is said that younger people are better at imagining new things and exploring new thought processes, and so older people will try to tap into a playful imagination to generate new thoughts and ideas for a project, for example.  With creativity, new ideas are created, and these may result in more value to one’s life.
