Why is Oatmeal good for you?

A lot of people love to eat oatmeal because of its rich taste. Aside from its flavor, oatmeal is boosted with a very high nutritional value. According to statistics, an estimate of about 80 percent of U.S. households today has oats in their kitchen. Having one bowl of hot oat-meal for breakfast really makes a complete diet for the day.

It is full of vitamins and minerals like zinc, iron, vitamin B which is very good for the brain and nervous system and vitamin E which is very good for the skin.

Oatmeal is made up of whole grains which are very rich with both soluble and insoluble dietary fibers. It contains more soluble fiber than whole wheat, corn or rice. The main soluble fiber present in oats is the Betaglucan which helps reduce the levels of LDL cholesterol (BAD cholesterol) in our body which helps prevent the risk of developing heart disease and reduce blood pressure.

Insoluble fibers acts like a ‘broom, inside the intestines. It helps clean and sweep out the impurities rather than leaving them inside the body to linger and fester. Regular oats consumption can help prevent constipation and helps clean the colon by forcing the food particles out of the system by making the stool heavier for it to pass easily through the gut.

It is also the one responsible for keeping the blood sugar steady by lowering the starch rate digestion inside the body thus it is very helpful for diabetics.

These fibers also help the body with weight loss. Oats can make your stomach feel full, thus keeping you from getting hungry easily. Whole grain carbs is different because it doesn’t make you fat instead it gives you energy.

Although oats are not the cure for cancer, these insoluble fibers can help the body fight against bile acids and its toxicity. According to the American Cancer Society, oats act as a very good agent against cancer because aside from these fibers, oats have phytochemicals, known for its ability to fight various types of cancer.

These are just some of the health benefits of oatmeal, I haven’t even mentioned its benefits for the skin and hair. Oats are really good for you. It is easy-to-cook tasty and nutritious, perfect for those who want to live a healthy life.
