Why is Oprah so rich?
Oprah’s life story is a classic tale of rags to richesâ€, as well as a very good example of success that comes from pure talent and hard work. Born in poverty, Oprah’s mother who was then a teenager, singlehandedly raised her in a poor urban district in Milwaukee. And during her childhood, Oprah experienced life’s hardships from being a destitute, raped at the age of 9, to becoming pregnant at the age of 14. Her son died in infancy. However, all these predicaments did not stopped her for becoming who she is today, famous and rich.
Oprah has been a consistent hall of famer in America’s 400 richest people since the year 1995, and currently holds the title of being the richest African American in the whole world. Oprah’s fame and riches caused her to be coined as the most influential and powerful woman in the world by the likes of CNN, American Spectator, Time Magazine, Life Magazine, USA Today and a whole lot more.
Oprah’s riches were derived from her fame; and her fame from her talent, hard work and motivation. At the age of 19, Oprah landed a job as a co-anchor on the radio in local evening news. Her moving ad-libs then got recognition from the listeners which brought her to the daytime talk show arena as a host. After being successful in elevating the TV ratings of her first talk show, Oprah then began the establishment of her own production company and went internationally on-air via syndication. After that the rest was history.
Aside from her self-titled and multi-awarded talk show entitled the Oprah Winfrey Show†which is said to be ending on September 2011, Oprah Winfrey is popularly known by people (from different walks of life) as an American television host, producer, actress, business woman and a philanthropist among others.
