Wondering Why?

Why is the World going to end in 2012?

Why is the world going to end in 2012?

For the past 2-3 years, since this world-ending has been a hot topic, some people have believed that the end will be due to humans only. Some say that it will be because of a natural catastrophe. Religious folk believe that it will be because GOD will end the life on earth. However, today people have analyzed this topic, and there were many discussions and debates over this issue, and it is now believed that the world might not end by 2012, but only experience small natural mishaps, floods, wars and few things of this kind.

Some of the reasons believed to be responsible for the end of the world are:

1. Mayan Calendar: Mayans are known for making good astrological predictions. Thousands of years ago they could calculate the length of lunar moon as 29.53 days. According to them, life on earth will end on Dec. 21st 2012. Since their lunar length calculations were accurate, the end of world prediction was also believed by many to be correct.

2. Sun storms: Scientists say that the energy output of the Sun is cyclic, and has reached somewhere in the middle of its relative stability. Recent solar storms releasing radiation energy bombarded the earth causing large destructions. These radiations may keep increasing and reach their peak by 2012.

3. In Europe, scientists are performing a 27 km tunnel experiment, where they are smashing the atoms together to find out what makes the universe tick. As the serious attempt of this machine will be held in 2012, people are afraid that the universe will crush into a super dense ball.

4. The Yellowstone volcano erupts every 650,000 years, and fills the air with ash after exploding, which may keep earth frozen for 15,000 years. It is likely to burst in 2012.

5. Some physicists presumed that a major catastrophe might occur on Earth in 2012.

6. Due to drifting of the Earth’s magnetic poles, the magnetic field that was shielding the Sun’s radiation will completely disappear. So UV radiation will directly damage the life on earth.

7. The Bible says that it will be final battle between good and evil.

Scholars from various disciplines have dismissed the idea of 2012.

  1. In the ’70s it was the age of Aquarius, in the ’80s it was robots taking over, in the ’90s it was Y2K, in the 00′s it was 2012.

We love scare stories. It’s just sad when people take them seriously.

Yes. The world will come to and end one day. Just as will my job. Just as will your life…and mine. So too will your reading of this page.

Question is, what are you going to do next? Will you waste your time worrying about a Mayan calendar or are you going to get on with your life and work towards what you really want out of life: to do the things you want, when you want to, with whom you want to, and for as long as you want, in the locations you want, and in the way that you want.

    • Wow. YOu are absolutely amazing. Sorry this is really random, but thank you for comforting many people. You are one of the few smart ones out there:)

      • I think its akin to like for instance if the people of Pompeii knew that their cities were going to be destroyed because of the eruptions that they would have had made preparations to leave their area and migrate to another country thereby saving themselves. But they didnt. They went on with their lives even though there were rumblings. Im sure someone was warning them and most didnt listen.

So this is a similar thing. Maybe if we knew we’d make some kind of preparation.

Or ignore it all and see what happens.

    • Im only 13 and dying in 2 years scares the crap outta me its awful we always have to be scared. I’d only be 15 and i wouldn’t even get to drive much less have a family I want to be asured that its not true.

  2. Firstly: The Mayan calendar does not say life on earth will end in 2012…their calendar simply does not go beyond that point. It just stops there. Many have taken this to mean everything else stops, too, but that is not why theirs stopped. They had simply seen no reason to go beyond a certain point. In actuality, their civilization stopped already when Europeans discovered the Americas. Secondly: The Bible does not say Armageddon will take place in 2012. What it does say is no one, not even the Son, Jesus, knows the day or hour, but only the Father. And He’s not telling. When the time is up the time is up. Period. No one know exactly, but they can see signs of its eminence. Thirdly: The earth’s magnetic poles are in the process of shifting, north switching with south, and have done so for millennia. The recorded magnetism in the ocean floor (molten lava hardened by the water causes the ocean floor to spread apart at the ridges, causing the continental and oceanic plates to move about very slowly) show this to be so. But there is nothing that says it has to happen in 2012, it is something that seems to happens every 15,000 to 25,000 years or longer and scientists believe we are overdue for another one. But it doesn’t mean it will end life as we know it, because it has been going on before and life has continued. No one knows what exactly the effects will be, and can be nothing more than an inconvenience for the compass-wielding Boy Scouts, or the GPS orbiting satellites; but can be catastrophic if severe storms conditions arise, or it triggers another ice-age. Either way, there’s little we can do about it except prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

  3. people are scared coz aside of the mayan calender there are many predictions by people in history, the predictions are TRUE ; however what they predict is NOT the fact that the world ends in 2012. What they predicted is ..that.. there will be a chaos about the year 2012. like it is now. while they were predicting they DID NOT see a vision of the year 2012. In theyr vision they saw the year 2010-2011;; maybe they said WORLD WILL END IN 2012 …while they were meant to say : IN 2010 PEOPLE GONNA THINK WORLD IS GONNA END IN 2012.

    NO ONE KNOWS

    __

PS; I DO NOT CLAIM. I GAVE AN FACT WHICH “COULD” BE POSSIBLY TRUE

    • completely ws loss that was a stupid answer. I am a highly certified genorologist, i graduated from harvard then went back to tudy this at yale in both schools i was #1 in my graduating class and i just wanted to tell you that know one knows when the world will end. Jesus does not know. Only person ho know is Jesus’s father (my creator). So i am saying that the Mayan Calender is 110% false. if you have any question call at (850) 277-Cade. If you didnt know my name is in my phone number. I have millions of dollars if you have problems calling just come take a visit to Miami, Florida .

      • I’m on my way Cade. I absolutely love Florida. I didn’t study at Yale or Harvard, but I did pass the 3rd grade and can spell. I would like to come down and give you spelling lessons for $2.3 million dollars since they didn’t do that for you at Yale or Harvard. Call me at 800-2sp-ell1, but please do not send an e-mail or anything in writing.

      • I’m a gypsy and my mother CAN predict people’s future AND history using cards. and YES she REALLY CAN! bunge of people came to my mother to tell her all she said was true. for example, there was a guy who asked my mom to predict he’s future, she told him he sleeps with 3 womans and cheats on his wife. less than a month later the couple divorced because the wife found out her husband cheated on her and indeed had 3 lovers.
So what do you have to say about that Cade James? is my mother the creator of you? lol , Studying at Harvard doesnt makes you Einstein my friend

  4. Maybe GlobalThermoNuclear War by dec 2012?

The way we’re heading with these wars and disputes I wouldnt be surprised if it’s from our own undoing.

  5. You forgot to mention Nibiru.

  6. You forgot other strong fact-based apocalypse theories like Nibiru and Harold Camping. Well, maybe Nibiru is crap, but Harold Camping, he did an equation and EVERYTHING!

  7. I think the current USA upcoming election for 2012 will be the end of the world!

  8. Why does the world have to end just in one day? Maybe it’s ending now but in a gradual way…

  9. I find it genuinely offensive that these are presented as facts, when not a single one has a basis in reality:
    1. The Mayan Calender ends on 21 dec. 2012, true, but it only means that a new calender begins. Does the world end when your calender finishes at the end of the year? No. You’re an idiot.
    2. Solar activity cycles are 11 years long, and the current one is no different to any of the others. You’re an idiot.
    3. For starters, “serious attempt”? There have been plenty of “serious attempt”s already, and they’ve been analysing each one to see what data they get. On top of that, there isn’t even enough energy in it to create a black hole capable of destroying the world, never mind the universe. You obviously don’t understand how black holes work. Also, you’re an idiot.
    4. I’ll mix it up a bit this time – I’ll start by calling you an idiot (because you’re an idiot), then explain why (it’s no more likely to explode in 2012 than it has been for the last few hundred years – 650,000 years between eruptions isn’t an exact figure, it’s an educated guess, and seeing as we don’t have a perfect understanding of what happens under the crust, it may well never erupt again.)
    5. If by “Physicists” you mean “crackpot conspiracy theorists”, then sure, this one is true. In other news, you’re still an idiot.
    6. The Earths poles do drift, but it takes somewhere in the region of 50,000 years for complete magnetic reversal, and the earths magnetic field doesn’t disappear at any point. If it did, there would be no (or at least, very little) life on earth. You’re an idiot.
    7. I will rape you with a fucking brick. Not only are several thousand year old goatherds some of the worst sources to cite in anything, but no the fuck it doesn’t – have you even read the bible? Do you have any idea how vague it is about ANY date in it? Even the “biblical scholars” who worked out things like how old the bible says earth is are using a LOT of guesswork about that, and the Bible doesn’t give ANY form of indication for when the world might actually end outside of a few incredibly vague omens. I fucking hate you, and hope you suffer a slow and painful death for putting such a misleading article in the public domain.
