Why Should Alcohol Be Illegal?

Alcohol is a drug. It is the easiest drug to possess because of its legality. Alcohol usage has been very controversial since the year 1900s. It was said to be evil and some people want it to be illegal. However, there are a lot of people as well who want it to stay legal for those who are twenty years old and above. They believe that alcohol has a great impact on a country’s economic stability. They also need it for relaxation and entertainment. However, negative sides of alcohol can lead to alcoholism and life-threatening diseases.

Alcohol must be banned by law because it is very addictive and it may take away your concentration to your studies or jobs. You will also feel that you cannot have fun without liquors beside you. Alcohol is as dangerous as any other drugs out there. It can affect you psychologically, physically and socially. Once you have been addicted to this kind of product, you will continue to take it in despite of destructive consequences that may take place.

Alcoholism is one of the major problems of the government nowadays. People who are under the influence of alcohol tend to lose their consciousness. A huge number of battered spouses and children, road accident damages and victims of drunk driving are all caused by this evil factor in the society. It is the number one killer for teenagers and typically, a drunken teen will definitely kill somebody at the end of the day.

The only way to avoid these incidents is to make alcohol illegal. Even if it really helps a country’s economy, there are a lot of other ways to make it happen. After liquors are banned, then crimes will automatically decrease. There are no drunk drivers who will kill an innocent person any time. No wives and children will be hurt and killed by a mad spouse because of alcohol. Realizing these issues is the only way for a person to stop the consumption of alcohol and to prevent addiction.

What i don’t understand about this article is that fact that it’s very wrong. you state that alcohol is as dangerous as many other drugs. Are you implying that acohol is as dangerous as PCP or meth? alcohol may be a drug, but many can use it responsibly. GTFO

Wow. Alcohol is the same as every other drug out there. It should be illegal, due to the fact you can function properly when you are on it! Get it under the influence means under the influence. Pretty sad that people are not seeing the bigger picture in what it does to you. Can you say alcoholics much!

This article is a joke. Anyone under the influence of a drug and causing harm to others should have a penalty but that is on them, not the drug. This is true for every drug, so long as the user doesn’t interfere with another’s life–violently, they should be able to use any drug they see fit.

I think your article is ok. You have faulty logic in assuming that if alcohol was illegal that people would stop using it. Many people use illegal drugs every day despite the risks. Alcohol is one of the more dangerous drugs despite what the past commenters mentioned because it makes you aggressive and impulsive (I have a LOT of experience with a multitude of drugs). You also have to reconsider the repurcussions of this action, there are a plethora of bars/breweries/vineyards in the US; tons (10 x10^8) of people would lose their jobs and livelihoods. There also a lot of alcoholics in this country and if it was banned you are going to have a lot of angry paranoid fiending addicts on your hands. just saying.

Yes, alcohol is a drug with zero benefits except to the people who sell it and profit. Yes, alcohol should be totally banned. There will be a lot of noise, but how long does it take to kill an alcohol addiction? Less than a year probably. An annoyance that will be endured for a short time, but think of the generations of alcohol free societies who will follow. They will surely be a more productive and healthier society. Cigarettes should also be banned. The main reason why these damaging products are still around is profits. But this is totally wrong to profit from another’s addiction, but that is what the government endorses whilst pretending to be concerened for the population’s well being. Same goes for health damaging food additives whose sole purpose is to make food taset good and last longer on the shelf. The only reason that a lot of people are against this idea is because they are selfish alcoholics, smokers, over eaters etc.

I like this article. I feel all drugs need to be legalized or all drugs need to be illegal. Alcohol is very dangerous but the fact that it is socially acceptable clouds the dangers of alcoholism and excessive drinking. Prohibition was a complete failure before and it would be again if it was implemented again. All in all, marijuana should be legalized

Wow, it’s sad to see so many people in the comments don’t know anything about history. Prohibition didn’t work in the 20. It increases crime by creating a black market and driving up value, ruins families due to criminalization and imprisonment, and not to mention is a violation of freedom.
