Why Was Jesus Crucified?
Why was Jesus crucified?
The book of Mormon has said that Jesus Christ was crucified because He chose to die like that. It was said in the book that ‘yieldeth himself into the hands of wicked men, to be lifted up and crucified,. It has to be kept in mind that Jesus was Lord by himself and He wanted to get crucified in that way so that the intention of the Father to bring the sins of several people of the world to be purified is fulfilled. Jews were against Jesus not that because they are following the words of the Almighty to crucify Him but they did it out of ignorance. Jews did not believe that Jesus was Christ, their real Messiah and the right fit as the king of Israel. They were not willing to accept that Jesus was son of GOD and the Jehovah of Old Testament.
Jews did not accept the laws and rules put forward by Jesus. Jesus was crucified because he claimed to be their Messiah, the Lord of Abraham. Jesus was crucified because Jews did not like His Gospel and teachings. Jesus was crucified because his living method of Love and forgiveness is not liked by the political people of that period. His words having legal weight was not easily convincing the wicked people. Jesus was crucified as He was considered as dangerous to the ruling powers of that day. His way of non-violent protests, inspiring actions, and encouraging the poor was making the political power to get weakened.
The challenge of bringing the God nearer to people has pressurized the ruling section of Jews to reduce the importance of mediators like Jesus. The concept of Jesus Gospel included that everyone has the right to call the God as ‘Father’. The main priests and holy people in the Churches doubted that Jesus was pointing on their status, role and responsibilities by violating the religion. In fact it is believed that Jesus was accepted by chief priests as a true prophet and if this fact is accepted by the law authorities it would hinder their positions in the Court. They thought that Jesus was a disturbance to the religious and political hierarchy and hence supported his crucifixion.
