The public saw her as having sympathy for the enemies of France, and this only made people dislike and distrust the Queen even more. While the reason for her beheading was officially known as treason, many speculate there was much more that lead to the beheading of Marie Antoinette.

After the royal family was taken from Versailles to Paris during the French Revolution, they were kept under guard. The royal family was not happy living in these conditions and tried to escape in 1791. There escape attempt failed and a year later they were once again imprisoned. This time both Marie Antoinette and her husband King Louis XVI were arrested for treason. Her husband was also beheaded and at this point Marie Antoinette knew her fate was soon to come. Ã’šÃ‚ Without any real proof the crime she was accused of at 37 years old she was put to death via the guillotine.
