Why is Brothers Rated R?

There are only a few movies that came out last year that really had me on the edge of my seat the entire time I was watching it. One of those movies is definitely Brothers which stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Tobey Maguire who happen to be two of my favorite actors in the business right now. The premise of the movie is not one that is overall original, but the performances of the actors and the timing of the dramatic scenes really makes for some tremendous entertainment and an enjoyable experience at the theater.

This movie is not for everyone, unfortunately, as it is rated R for a very good reason. There is a lot of violent war flashbacks as well as some disturbing dialogue between the two brothers and the wife of one of the brothers, Natalie Portman. The topic of infidelity is also one that may not be suitable for people under the age of 18 because no parent really wants their kids being subjected to that kind of situation until they really need to hear about it. Overall, though, the dramatic interpretations that these outstanding actors perform in this movie are some of the best that I have seen and I would hope that most people who are allowed to see this movie actually go out and see it.

Brothers really brings out the best in each of these actors and it really shows just how versatile all of them can really be when put in certain roles. We had really only seen these guys in roles where their talents did not seem to be tested, but Brothers is a much different animal altogether. Being able to act through all of the tense situations that come up in this movie sounds like it would be a huge test for them, but they seem to make it look very natural and easy.
