Why is NBA elite delayed?

NBA is considered to be the most famous basketball league in the world and with this, NBA video games were also created. The video games were called NBA Live and each year there is a new series.

On May 26, 2010, Electronic Arts announced that the series will be renamed for 2011. It will be called NBA Elite 11. However, NBA Elite was delayed for this year’s release. According to EA, there had been some polishing on the gameplay. It was about to be released on October 5, 2010, but it was canceled. The main reason of the delay was the concerns and feedback of the people who have tried out the demo version.

EA had actually explained the cause of delay. In Peter Moore’s blog dated September 27, 2010, he mentioned about EA Sports’ ambitious goal for the new franchise which is NBA Elite. NBA Elite was supposed to be a game that will introduce new features seldom seen in basketball genre. To be able to achieve this ambition, NBA Elite had to develop more developments in the game polishing. Unfortunately, NBA Elite could not reach the deadline for the date of release. The creators still want to keep on working to deliver a breakthrough in basketball video game experience. It took extra time to make the game. A lot of research and play-testing had been done so that NBA Elite will come out as perfect as it can be. This is the reason why the release of NBA Elite was delayed.

There are a lot of people waiting for NBA Elite to be out. But then here comes the bad news, EA has decided to remove NBA Elite from the publisher’s line up of games. It was not just delayed but it was actually cancelled. This means no more NBA Elite.

Instead of NBA Elite, NBA Jam was released for Wii, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 instead.
