The question was, “Why is Nick Fury black?” So, why? As an avid comic reader from the 60’s, I am a Nick Fury fan from his “Howling Commandos” days. Ironically an integrated unit during a war which wasn’t integrated.
A more plausible explanation would be Nick Fury is a code name for the lead/head agent of SHIELD and it has been passed on. Makes more sense than a politically correct change for stupid reasons.
Plus it would leave open the option of the original to come back or be referenced in future films/story lines.
To date Samuel Jackson makes for the best Nick on film so far. David Hasselhoff portrayed Fury in the 1998 Fox television movie Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Simple. All media is run by liberals who think adding blacks or gays or women or whatever their current agenda is to shows and movies will somehow make the world a better place. That is why he is black in the movie. Don’t confuse me as a racist, this is just the simple truth. I’m a fan of Samuel L. Jackson, but I wish they would have chosen someone who actually looks like the character rather than trying to push their politics.
