Delaware County is a small county that is located in the state of Oklahoma. Ã’šÃ‚ Delaware County was founded in 1907 and was named for the Delaware Indians that have settled in the area. Back in the 1830’s the area that is known today as Delaware county was home to the Delaware Indians and this is how the county got the name that we know it by today. Today this area is well preserved and a historical association was formed in order to maintain and persevere the rich history that this county has.
It has be said that before the mid- eighteenth century this area was home to the Mohawk Tribes. The Mohawk tribes of the Iroquois Confederation called this region their home. They settled into this area and had added to rich and historic nature that is now called Delaware County. Ã’šÃ‚ Often times throughout history a piece of land or an area is settled into in hope to either call the land home or to make a county of it. This was the case with the Delaware County and today Delaware County has a population of about 38,000 people. While this is a small size for a county, one can still appreciate the beauty and the historic nature that go hand in hand when we talk about Delaware County. To answer the question of why this county was formed, one can draw the conclusion that Delaware County was formed in efforts to persevere the history and beauty of the land.
