Why should recycling be mandatory?
Everyday, piles and piles of garbage are being collected worldwide. Most of this garbage is non-biodegradable or man-made items that do not decay even for many, many years. Because of this, pollution and other environmental concerns are being raised and the best solution that people came up with is recycling.

Recycling is making use of an old item, either in its original or changed form, and creating it into a new one. It has many benefits not just for the environment but also for an individual and the community as well, which is why the question of making it mandatory is considered. Below are the various advantages of recycling.

For one, there is money in the things that are recycled. Instead of throwing away old items (like clothes, toys, or furniture) one can actually make use of it in another way or sell it at a rummage sale. Collecting aluminum cans, scrap metals like copper or steel can also be sold in various community drop-off centers to earn extra cash. The use of recycled products to produce a new one cost less as compared to creating it from its original materials and, it also saves energy in production which is another advantage of recycling.

Recycling also helps in the conservation of natural resources and is eco- friendly. The best example for this is paper; recycling paper protects numerous trees from being cut-down which in turn help in the slowing down of global warming. With recycling, it lessens the amount of plastics, glasses and papers that usually ends up in the garbage and eventually the landfills, saving up space.

Recycling also promotes environmental awareness among the people. It encourages discipline and concern for the surroundings, and other people as well. It even provides job and helps in building a strong economy.

With all these and much more, the question whether the regulation of recycling should be mandatory is already answered. Reduce, reuse, and recycle,” this is a concept that everybody should practice since everyday each person has its own trash to throw.

nothing would have to be MANDATORY if people would CHOOSE to do the right thing and be conscientious about their surroundings.
