As the race for the presidential nomination gets underway, we look at some common beliefs or ideology Trump and DeSantis might share.

They contend that CRT fosters division and is founded on flawed principles and have taken steps to prohibit such racially divisive and discriminatory programs from being taught in public schools.
  4. Support for Second Amendment – Ex-President Trump strongly defended the Second Amendment that gives citizens the right to bear arms. DeSantis also advocates for the protection of individual gun rights while opposing strict gun control measures. The Governor talks a lot about his keen support for the Second Amendment. Both believe it’s safe to put guns into the hands of law-abiding citizen.
  5. Skepticism about US aide to Ukraine – Trump and DeSantis both support an America First approach to foreign policy. They strongly believe in putting American interests and sovereignty first, renegotiating trade deals to benefit the US, and reducing participation in international conflicts. On foreign policy, both are skeptical of the US aide to Ukraine in its war with Russia.

Hardline Immigration Policies – Both Trump and DeSantis strongly emphasized on strong US immigration policies, advocating for tighter border controls, more deportations, and stricter enforcement of immigration laws. They seek to restrict legal immigration in a variety of ways in order to end the humanitarian crisis at the border.
